Transfers
Free 2-Hour Foothill Transit to Foothill Transit Transfers
All you need to do is pay your fare with a TAP card, whether that’s a plastic card or a virtual card on the TAP LA app. Then, board another Foothill Transit bus within two hours of paying your fare, and tap your card. If it’s a local line (including the Silver Streak!), you won’t be charged a thing. If your second bus is Commuter Express (Lines 490, 493, 495, 498, 499, and 699), you’ll have to pay the full Commuter Express fare.
Transfers With Other Agencies
Most LA County Agencies
Transfers between LA County agencies are exclusively on TAP. You must first load Stored Value on your TAP card to transfer between TAP-participating transit agencies. Pay with TAP when you board, then tap again when you transfer to another agency. Your transfer fare will be deducted automatically from your Stored Value. Click here to learn about Metro fare capping. Transfers for adults and students are $0.50 and transfers for seniors, persons with disabilities, and Medicare discounts are $0.25. See participating agencies here.
OCTA
Paper transfers to OCTA are available for purchase when you pay the full fare at time of boarding. Please request the transfer before paying your fare. Review transfer policies for other agencies to identify any upcharges.
Monthly passes, day passes, and transfers from OCTA are accepted as one Adult Local Fare at Beach and La Habra and at the Brea Mall.
Omnitrans
Foothill Transit accepts all Omnitrans passes (including mobile passes) as a FREE transfer at Pomona Transit Center and Montclair Transit Center only. In addition, you can show your TAP card when boarding Omnitrans buses for a free transfer from Foothill Transit at those locations.
The stops at Towne and Marketplace and Indian Hill and Holt do not serve as accepted transfer points. Our buses connect to Omnitrans at those stops, but neither Foothill Transit nor Omnitrans offer free transfers at those locations. Please pay the full fare when you board your next bus.
Metrolink
Monthly passes and tickets are good for one boarding on all local lines, including the Silver Streak. Metrolink passes and tickets are NOT accepted on Commuter Express service.
